Trichomonas vaginalis (TV) is a sexually transmitted infection. It is also known as trichomoniasis. It is caused by a parasite, and the mode of transmission is through sexual contact. Common symptoms in women are a fishy smell in the vaginal discharge, painful urination and sores around the vagina. In men symptoms are painful urination and a discharge from the penis. In most cases these symptoms subside without any treatment.
