About Female Sterilisation Reversal Clinic

The Female Sterilisation Reversal Clinic is based at BMI Park Hospital in Nottingham. Mr Clive Pickles MRCOG is the gynaecological surgeon at the clinic and has been achieving impressive success rates for reversal of female sterilisation for many years.

Experienced female sterilisation reversal surgeon

Mr Pickles has developed a plan of care for women seeking a reversal of their sterilisation so that high percentages of those women now go on to have babies as a direct consequence. Mr Pickles has been performing this specialised reversal procedure since 1989 from the BMI Park Hospital, Nottingham as it is not available on the NHS.

Female sterilisation reversal

This clinic specialises in this operation and has achieved high success rates. During the sterilisation operation, clips or cauterisation (cutting) produces a blockage in the fallopian tubes so that the egg is not able to reach the uterus. The aim of the female sterilisation reversal surgery is to rejoin the fallopian tubes.

The whole operation takes an hour or so to complete and the actual stay in hospital can be one to two nights depending on the time of surgery. Patients are advised to take the first week at home very easy and then gradually return to normal activities.

Success rates

Mr Pickles’s success rates for the female reversal of sterilisation operation in women aged 41 and under can be defined in two ways. Firstly, in terms of women who had this operation and then had a baby, he has a 75% success rate.

The second definition is patency, which refers to the ability of the fallopian tubes to allow an egg to pass along and therefore enable fertilisation. Mr Pickles has a success rate of 84% tubal patency.

Mr Pickles has many testimonials on his website and he places summaries of his
pregnancies on his facebook page for all to see.

Testimonial February 2016

Just a note to let yourself and Mr Pickles know that XXX and I had our 20 week scan this week and are glad to report that baby is a healthy baby boy! We’re so excited and grateful for our little miracle due 19/05/16, a year almost to the day, after surgery!

Testimonial October 2013

"I had sterilisation reversal with you on 19th of november following a failed summer
of ivf. I had a chemical pregnancy the second month of trying to conceive after
surgery so I knew the op was a success, and then fell pregnant again on the 3 rd
month after the op which was so quick.

I emailed you at 12 weeks pregnant so should already be part of your success
statistics, but I am very pleased to announce that on the 20th of october at 36
weeks pregnant I had my healthy baby boy to complete my family at the age of 40
years old."
