Broken collar bone (clavicle) is a common fracture occurring as a result of trauma and sports injuries. The break can be detected by either an MRI scan or an X-ray. Most of the broken collar bones heal without surgical interventions. Use of intramedullary screws and plate fixation of the clavicle are most common surgical procedures performed by orthopaedic surgeons. Arthroscopic procedures are also available now to stabilize collar bone fractures. Physiotherapy may be required after surgery to help restore mobility.
