Lymphoblastic leukaemia (acute) is a type of blood cancer that affects the cells that form blood in the bone marrow. There are a large number of immature white blood cells that accumulate in the bone marrow and move into the bloodstream; this event triggers anaemia, bleeding disorders and infections. Although very serious, children that have ALL survive when treatment is done as soon as possible.
