Haematuria is the presence of blood in the urine. There are many causes for blood in the urine, but the most common ones may be due to conditions of the kidney and bladder. Kidney stones may damage the kidney walls causing bleeding; the same applies to stones that have accumulated in the bladder. Treatment depends on the underlying cause. Kidney and urinary stones are treated using lithotripsy.
