Female sterilisation is a surgical procedure during which the fallopian tubes are tied off with the use of clips in a keyhole procedure. A small incision is made under the naval for the laparoscope to access the tubes. Women usually undergo female sterilization after deciding that she will not have any more children. The procedure is often performed immediately following delivery of a baby. Female sterilization is performed under general anaesthesia.
