A branchial cyst is a type of tissue that develops in the neck and collarbone of the foetus. If it grows abnormally then an opening is created between the cleft and the outside skin in the new-born. Therefore, in these babies such an opening is found in the neck or below the collarbone from which liquid may ooze out. This cyst may also get infected. Slight pain may be present in the area.
