A prosthetist or a orthotist is a specialist that deals with the creation of prosthetic devices and equipment to help people that are differentially-abled. They may design and create prosthetic limbs for children born with congenital abnormalities or devices to help adults after a amputation of a limb. He works in close collaboration with a physical therapist in providing full recovery of a patient after a prosthesis is fitted or worn.
