Training and experience
Choosing to return to the Czech Republic rather than take up a professorship at Harvard, he was appointed the first professor of ophthalmology at Charles University in Prague, one of Europe’s leading universities, and established that country’s first private eye hospital, the Lexum Eye Clinic.
Professor Filipec has over 25 years’ experience in laser eye surgery and is a pioneer in corneal transplants. His extensive specialist knowledge of eye micro-surgery, corneal transplants, cataract surgery and laser surgery puts him in high demand as a trainer of eye surgeons in Eastern Europe and Afghanistan.
