Mani Naghibi: Consultant in Gastroenterology and Human Nutrition in London
Dr Mani Naghibi is a Consultant Gastroenterologist at St Mark’s Hospital, The National Bowel Hospital, London. Trained in all aspects of gastroenterology, he has a special clinical interest in nutrition, functional bowel disorders, conditions that cause change in bowel habit and abdominal pain, and reflux. As a member of GI Doctors, Dr Naghibi is available for private consultation at clinics in the Harley Street area and in North West London, Harrow.
Training and experience
Dr Naghibi graduated from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in 2005 and went on to undertake his specialist gastroenterology training in hospitals in London and Wessex. He was awarded his Medical Doctorate (MD) for his work on artificial nutrition for patients with cancer by the University of Southampton, where he also completed his Fellowship in Advanced Human Nutrition.
Dr Naghibi was appointed as a Gastroenterology Consultant at the internationally renowned St Mark’s Hospital, The National Bowel Hospital in 2014. He was Cancer Lead for Upper GI at St Mark’s from 2015 until 2018 and is an endoscopy trainer for trainee doctors.
In 2014, Dr Naghibi was awarded the Shire Prize for innovation in gastroenterology for designing and implementing a web-based system that enabled patients with inflammatory bowel disease to take greater control of their health and medical treatments. He was awarded an NHS Clinical Excellence Award in 2017.

Dr Naghibi has a special clinical interest and expertise in the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, including irritable bowel syndrome, coeliac disease, bile salt malabsorption, malnutrition, reflux and ulcers. He is accredited in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including gastroscopy, colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy and offers expert endoscopic diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal conditions such as heart burn, abdominal pain, inflammatory bowel disorders, diarrhoea and constipation.
Dr Naghibi’s other clinical interests include human and artificial nutrition, including enteral tube feeding, and the evidence-based use of probiotics, life style and dietary management for gastrointestinal disorders.

Dr Naghibi’s research interests include nutrition, cancer and patient choice. He has published a number of peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific journals and is currently supervising PhD projects researching the use of exercise, nutrition and vitamin D before and after cancer treatments.
As a committee member to the British Society of Gastroenterology, British Association of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition and British Artificial Nutrition Survey, he is a regular speaker at international gastrointestinal conferences.
