Guri Sandhu: Profile

Mr Gurpreet (Guri) Sandhu is a Consultant ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) Surgeon in London based at Charing Cross, Chelsea and Westminster and the Royal Brompton Hospitals. He is an Honorary Senior Lecturer in ENT Surgery at Imperial College and University College, London.

Guri Sandhu graduated from the University of London in 1990 having trained in medicine at The Royal London Hospital. Mr Sandhu’s early surgical training included General Surgery, Neurosurgery and Plastic Surgery. As a Registrar he trained in general ENT principally at The Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital (RNTNE) and paediatric ENT at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children. He became Fellow of The Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in 1994. In 2011 he was awarded ‘Doctorate of Medicine’ (MD) by University College London. 


Mr Sandhu has a practice in general ENT in adults and children. He consults at the Harley ENT Practice, a state-of-the-art ENT facility at 107 Harley Street and privately at Charing Cross Hospital.

Research interests

Mr Sandhu lectures nationally and internationally on topics such as The Difficult Airway, Voice and Swallowing. He has written two books, numerous book chapters and has over one hundred peer-reviewed papers published. As well as teaching medical students and medical colleagues he also lectures regularly to students of music and the performing arts. He has been invited to appear in newspapers, radio and television.

Mr Sandhu is actively involved in ENT related research and is supervising several higher degree research projects. He is one of the very few ENT surgeons awarded ‘Corresponding Fellow’ to the American Laryngological Association. He is only the fourth ENT surgeon awarded the 'Outstanding Contribution Award' (Isshiki Prize) by the British Laryngological Association.

Mr Sandhu has been a Vice President for the Section of Laryngology and Rhinology and also a Committee Member for the Section of Sleep Medicine, at The Royal Society of Medicine. He is a co-founder and currently treasurer to The British Laryngological Association (BLA) and ENT surgeon to The Royal Society of Musicians.
