Venezuelan equine encephalitis (VEE) is also known as encephalomyelitis. It is a viral infection caused by the Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus. It basically effects equines e.g. horses and donkeys etc. The main target of this pathogen is the central nervous system of these equines. It can also be transmitted to humans. Transmission to humans and animals occurs through an infected mosquito bite. VEE can be fatal for animals. Humans develop fever and flu like symptoms. A vaccine is available for both animals and humans.
