Urological cancer

Urological cancer

The key symptom to look out for is blood in your urine - if this occurs, you should consult a urologist. The two types of bladder cancer are superficial or non-invasive and muscle invasive. Muscle invasive bladder cancer can be fatal as this type means that the cancer has spread from the bladder to surrounding muscles. Urological cancer is thought to be caused due to exposure to harmful substances e.g. tobacco smoke. Superficial cancer (which is usually not fatal) is treated by a transurethral resection of the bladder tumor followed by chemotherapy. Invasive cancer is treated with radical cystectomy.
