A urinary tract infection (UTI) is an infection of the urinary tract caused by a bacterium. Females are at a higher risk of developing UTI than males. Symptoms of UTI are pain and a burning sensation during urination, frequent urination, cloudy urine or blood in the urine. Usually no treatment is required. Symptoms of UTI resolve within a week. The more severe form of UTI is treated with antibiotics.
