Toe nail removal
Ingrown toenails are removed surgically by either partial nail avulsion or total nail avulsion. Both procedures are performed under local anaesthesia. Partial nail avulsion involves removal of only part of toenail. It is carried out under local anaesthesia. The edges of the nail are cut away and phenol is applied to the affected area. In total nail avulsion the toe is wrapped in a sterile bandage after surgery to prevent infection.
