Sleeve gastrectomy
There are different types of gastrectomies. A sleeve gastrectomy consists of the surgeon removing the left side of the stomach, which can reduced the size of the stomach by up to 75%. The procedure is performed using keyhole surgery under general anaesthesia. The remaining part of the stomach is pulled upwards and cut ends are stitched back into position. A tummy tuck may be required after weightloss in order to remove loose skin and tighten muscles.
