Penfred’s syndrome is a genetic condition that affects the ears. It is prevalent in children and early signs of this condition include gradual loss of hearing in both ears as the inner ear becomes deformed. There is also an inability to maintain balance and thyroid problems also occur. A child born with this condition gradually loses his hearing, suffers from vertigo and an enlarged thyroid.
