Pancreatitis is a serious condition that consists of inflammation of the pancreas as a result of an infection. Mild pancreatitis usually improves after a week without treatment. Acute pancreatitis could have symptoms such as sudden severe pain in the abdominal area, vomiting and an overwhelming feeling to vomit. Another possible cause of pancreatitis is a problem with the enzymes in the pancreas which is often related to the presence of gallstones and alcoholism.
