Optic neuritis
Optic neuritis is a condition involving inflammation of the optic nerve. Vision deteriorates, localized eye pain develops and there is poor colour perception. There are different types of optic neuritis. There is acute demyelinating Optic Neuritis caused by multiple sclerosis, ischaemic optic neuritis caused by giant cell arthritis and anterior and posterior optic neuropathy. Other causes could be infections, diabetes and the use of corticosteroids.
