Nasal septal perforation is a gap in the nasal septum tissue. The cause of nasal septal perforation is unknown. This gap creates a direct communication between the two normally-separate sides of the nose. Symptoms include whistling sound during breathing, nose bleeds, frequent crusting and dryness of the nasal passage.
