Midwifery Care (private)
A dedicated midwife provides the expectant mother with continued support and one to one care throughout her pregnancy, birth and post-natal care. Private midwifes generally offer different types of care packages at different costs. The private midwife provides antenatal appointments at home; blood pressure checks, urine tests, listen to baby’s heartbeat and assess its position & size, as well as discussing other concerns you may have. You will be able to discuss your birth options and preferences and plan these with your personal midwife in attendance, either for a home or hospital birth. If a hospital delivery is required, your highly trained midwife will be in attendance throughout labour and the delivery itself. She will provide postnatal care during daily visits (usually for the first 5 days), which also include personal breastfeeding support. Further visits and continuing support can also be arranged.
