Leptospirosis is a bacterial infection that is spread through contaminated water or an environment infested by rat faeces. The infection could cause mild flu-like symptoms, including headaches, chills, joint and muscle pain. However, it can be life threatening in severe cases. The bacteria usually enter the body through a break in the skin.
