Kidney stones are lumps that may develop in one or both kidneys. Stones that are as small as a grain of sand or rice could be easily passed via the urine however larger stones could block the exit of ureter. Common causes include the accumulation of waste products in the kidneys, the intake of medications that can increase calcium levels in the blood and structural problems of the kidneys. Symptoms could include back pain, passing blood in the urine and a decrease in the amount of urine production.
