Haemorrhoid treatment (HAL-RAR)
HAL-RAR, which stands for The Haemorrhoidal Artery Ligation - Recto Anal Repair, is a haemorrhoid artery ligation and recto anal repair procedure which can be carried out by a colorectal surgeon without a general anaesthetic. During this procedure, arteries that supply blood to the rectal area (and therefore the haemorrhoid) are located via ultrasound, tied off and closed with a stitch. The piles, or haemorrhoids, will shrivel and die and symptoms should resolve.
