Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that can impair vision if not diagnosed early by an optometrist. It often affects both eyes but in varying degrees. Fluid in the eye accumulates due to poor drainage or increased production of fluid which leads to the development of glaucoma. There are different types of glaucoma and these could be caused by eye injuries, birth defects and the use of medications. Glaucoma is irreversible but the condition may be slowed down with diet, use of medications and high tech treatments like laser treatment.
