Fungal nail

Fungal nail

Fungal nail, or fungal nail infection, is caused by a fungus that targets the nail plate, bed and the root of the nail. The nail becomes discolored and assumes a different shape and thickness. It usually affects the big tow more than any other. Mild fungal nail infections do not require treatment and clipping the affected nail will often do the trick. Physicians may prescribe anti-fungal medications for severe fungal infections.
