Foodborne diseases and transmission

Foodborne diseases are due to the consumption of food that may be poorly prepared, unhygienically handled and sold, contaminated or food that contains toxins. Transmission/spread of the disease may vary according to the cause and treatment may also depend on the symptoms. Usually the patient may suffer from abdominal pain, vomiting and nausea, diarrhoea and other gastrointestinal symptoms. Treatment may be purging poisonous food and medication for diarrhoea and vomiting to prevent dehydration.
