Cold sore
Cold sores are small fluid-filled blisters found around the mouth which occur due to herpes simplex virus. These are painful and reddish in colour. Fever may also be present. The sores can break open to ooze liquid, which contains viruses that can infect others and,as they heal, leave a scab. Kissing, sharing eating utensils or coming in direct contact with saliva of an infected person can spread the disease.
