Professor Roger Kirby qualified from the University of Cambridge in 1975 with a distinction in surgery. He became a consultant at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in 1986 and nine years later moved to St George’s Hospital where he was awarded a personal chair in Urology and also became Director of Post-Graduate education. He is now a visiting professor at St George’s and Director of the Prostate Centre in Central London.
He has had an interest in prostate cancer and prostatic diseases for many years and is editor of a Journal of that title. He has personally undertaken almost 1000 radical prostatectomy operations and written over 200 papers together with more than 50 books.
