Mark Webber is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon working in private practice in Manchester and Cheshire. He works in trauma surgery with a specialist interest in shoulder and spinal surgery.
Mr Webber began his medical training at the University of St Andrews before moving on to Manchester to complete his specialist training through several leading hospitals in the North West. He currently works as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in Manchester at Trafford General Hospital and Altrincham General Hospital.
Although a general orthopaedic surgeon, dealing with hip and knee surgery his special interests are spinal and shoulder surgery. Mr Webber carried out spinal surgery training at Hope Hospital, Salford and shoulder courses in European and US centres. He has practiced as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon for the past eight years and has developed advanced arthroscopic techniques within the shoulder joint in regards to rotator cuff repair and those lesions relating to the biceps tendon.
The use of arthroscopic surgery has proved to be the most efficient and effective type of intervention for sports injuries as well as work related and traumatic conditions. He uses local anesthetic blocks combined with this type of surgery which has led to an enhanced rate of rehabilitation and return to full fitness.
Within the field of spinal surgery Mr Webber has been heavily involved with the pioneering use of the Wallace Ligament device in the UK, which is designed to treat many conditions which cause lower back and leg pain. This technique has proven to be very safe and beneficial to the patients who have undergone the procedure so far, reducing lower back pain whilst maintaining mobility of the spine.
