Surgical treatment of shoulder arthritis
Arthritis is caused when the cartilage covering the ends of the bones in the shoulder wears down or becomes damaged, allowing the bone surfaces to rub together causing pain and stiffness in the joint. Developments in the construction and design of artificial joints and in surgical techniques now mean that there are a number of surgical options available to relieve shoulder pain and restore function to the joint, including resurfacing the damaged joint surfaces, replacing the head of the humerus or replacing the whole shoulder joint. A special procedure has also been recently developed for patients who have both arthritis and rotator cuff tears.
With a specialist interest in shoulder replacement surgery, Mr Sinha is highly skilled in all the most up-to-date surgical treatments for shoulder arthritis and can offer expert assessment and advice on which procedure would be most suitable for each individual patient
