Dr Loughlin graduated as a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (M.B, B.S.) from St Bartholomew’s Hospital, University of London, in 1992. Subsequently he undertook three years of Basic Psychiatry Training through the St Mary’s Hospital London Training Scheme. He was elected to membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) in 1997.

 

During training Dr Loughlin gained experience in Forensic Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Addictions. A Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in General Adult & Old Age Psychiatry was granted in 2001. He was appointed an NHS Consultant Psychiatrist in 2001 and he continues to work in this post. He is active in NHS research and teaching medical students.
