Mr Sanjay Azad is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon at Selly Oak Hospital Birmingham and at the Queens Hospital Burton. He offers private cosmetic surgery at several private hospitals in Birmingham and the West Midlands.
He qualified from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, India with honours in Pathology and Otorhinolaryngology. Thereafter he served in the Indian Navy on ship and shore establishments as a medical officer. Mr Azad then went on to complete a Masters in General Surgery at the same medical institution.
He served with distinction in the Indian Navy as a Naval Surgeon before coming to the UK to pursue higher studies in Plastic Surgery. In the UK, he has practised in plastic surgery at numerous centres including Chelmsford, Durham, Bristol and Birmingham. He completed his specialist registrar training in plastic surgery in the Merseyside rotation.
His subspecialty training was in Manchester where he trained for one year undertaking the prestigious National Oncoplastic Breast Fellowship. This fellowship is an interface between breast cancer work and breast reconstruction. He has also trained in cosmetic surgery and has completed the Mersey-Manchester Cosmetic Fellowship. He is fully accredited and on the GMC specialist register of plastic surgeons.
Publications and articles
Mr Sanjay Azad has an academic background and has published widely in numerous national and international journals on a whole range of plastic surgery procedures. He has authored a textbook on general surgery, which is now in its third edition and is a standard textbook for undergraduate students.
He has also authored abstracts, scientific papers, book chapters, website and online publications and has given many presentations. Mr Azad also has a major commitment to teaching in the NHS
