Mr Hugh Henderson, MA, MB, BChir, FRCS, is committed to helping people through corrective cosmetic surgery.  Not everyone can be helped, but Mr Henderson always tries to be completely honest about what is reasonable to expect, what he can do for them, and what the risks are. Around 95% of his patients are happy or very happy with the outcome of their treatment, but sometimes a subsequent procedure or other forms of cosmetic correction are required.

His particular specialities are facial cosmetic procedures, tummy tucks and breast operations, but he also offers a range of other treatments such as correction of inverted nipples, prominent ear correction, labial reduction, liposuction operations, fat transfer and rhinoplasties.

Special clinical interests in cosmetic surgery

Mr Henderson enjoys the challenges posed by cosmetic and reconstructive surgery, and this is his current focus.

He trained to be a general plastic surgeon, and also trained in eye surgery, orthopaedic surgery, general surgery, neurosurgery and ENT. While with the NHS, he specialised in hypospadias, the prevention and treatment of pressure sores, and hand surgery. 

Mr Henderson is also involved in medico-legal work, writing reports for solicitors about patients' injuries, scars and disabilities, and in giving opinions about medical negligence cases. 

Research interests

Mr Henderson has carried out basic research in many fields including:

• early detection of deep vein thrombosis

• skin allergies to adhesive dressings

• risks and use of medications in microsurgery

• a new operation for closing holes in the palate after cleft palate repair

In addition Mr Henderson has invented several new surgical instruments.
