Consultant Knee, Lower Limb and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Surgeon, Manchester: Sanjiv Jari
A specialist in keyhole surgery of the knee and ankle, ligament reconstructive knee surgery including Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction, cartilage transplantation in sports injuries and early arthritis, knee-cap realignment surgery as well as foot and ankle surgery.
Mr Sanjiv Jari, BSc(Hons), MB ChB, FRCS[Eng], FRCS[Tr & Orth], Ortho Sports Med Fellowship, qualified in medicine from the University of Manchester in 1990.
His post-graduate training was in London, Manchester and the North West of England. Following the completion of his training, he worked in the USA for a year at a prestigious sports medicine clinic treating, amongst other things, injuries in elite and professional athletes.
He was appointed Consultant in Orthopaedic & Trauma Surgery at Hope Hospital (University of Manchester Teaching Hospital) in Salford in 2001. In addition he was also appointed as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Manchester. He was a Sports Medicine consultant to the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester and also provided cover to the 2001 World Police and Fire Games in Indianapolis. He was also medical consultant to the USA amateur boxing association.
Mr Jari is the Orthopaedic Surgeon to the Great British Olympic Wrestling squad. He also works with many other professional and elite sports teams and players, treating various injuries especially around the knee. He has written articles on Sports Medicine and Injuries in Fighters Magazine.

He has published a BSc Thesis, 17 peer-reviewed articles in a number of respected international journals, 14 abstracts following presentation of papers at various meetings around the world and a number of invited articles including book chapters.
Mr Jari is a national and international speaker on knee surgery and sports injuries. He has a number of ongoing research studies in various aspects of lower limb surgery. His research commitment includes supervision of post-graduate doctors undertaking higher degrees.
