K Hariharan

Mr K Hariharan is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Gwent Hospital, Cardiff in Wales. He also practices privately at the Spire Hospital in Cardiff and St Josephs Hospital in Newport.


Mr Hariharan is an accredited trainer for the South Wales post-graduate training programme and a clinical teacher at The University of Wales, College of Medicine. He lectures at Glasgow University and is a national teacher for the British Orthopaedic Foot Surgery Society.

 

Mr Hariharan is a member of international faculties; Biomet International and Dupuy International as well as a member of  the AO faculty for lower limb trauma. He is a specialist adviser for MTP joint replacement with The National Institute for Clinical Excellence and chairman of  the education committee in the British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle  Society.


He is now a post graduate instructor for the Royal College of Surgeons in England and an orthopaedic surgeon with the Gwent Diabetic Foot Team.

  • Bunion surgery including complex bunions and recurrent bunions
  • All lesser toe deformity corrections
  • Ankle, subtalar,& toe joint arthroscopy including minimally invasive keyhole fusion of joints in the foot and ankle
  • Tendoscopy  and ligament reconstruction in the foot and ankle
  • Sports injuries including dancer’s injuries of the foot and ankle, minimally invasive ankle sprain surgery
  • Ankle and toe joint replacements
  • Complex lower limb deformity correction
  • Computer assisted deformity correction including congenital deformity post traumatic deformity and post surgical deformity of the tibia, ankle, hindfoot


Research interests

Mr Hariharan has extensive research interests with large a portfolio of presentations to distinguished foot and ankle audiences. His main research interests are foot biomechanics, and foot and ankle trauma.
