Andrew Price: Consultant Orthopaedic and Knee Surgeon, Oxford

Specialist in knee arthroscopy with meniscal repair, knee revision, partial and total knee replacement, patello femoral resurfacing, osteotomy, anterior and posterior cruciate ligament repair, autologous chondrocyte implantation, microfracture and the treatment of degenerative knee disorders, osteoarthritis, cartilage disorders and sports injury.

 

Mr Andrew Price is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre NHS Trust and Reader in Musculoskeletal Science at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Oxford University. His undergraduate training was at Cambridge University and St. Thomas’ Hospital in London. He studied for a PhD as a postgraduate student at Oxford University and completed his Orthopaedic surgical training in Oxford, based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. He is a Fellow of Worcester College (Oxford University), where he is Director of Studies for Clinical Medicine.

 

Mr Price works specifically as a Consultant Knee Surgeon treating all paediatric and adult knee conditions.  He has completed specialist Fellowship training in knee surgery in Melbourne Australia. He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association, the British Association for Surgery of the Knee and the International Cartilage Repair Society. He performs surgical treatments for all knee conditions including total and partial knee replacement, osteotomy, revision knee replacement, keyhole arthroscopy, cruciate ligament reconstruction, patella stabilisation and cartilage repair techniques.

 

Mr Price has a special interest in treating cartilage problems within the young adult knee and has set up a cartilage repair service at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. As part of this he introduced the technique of autologous cartilage implantation to the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.

Mr Price has developed a programme of Musculoskeletal Research at the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Botnar Research Centre. His interests lie in investigating the progression of osteoarthritis, methods of cartilage repair, phenotype specific joint replacement and the outcome of orthopaedic intervention in young adults. Mr Price’s NHS base is the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre NHS Trust, an internationally acclaimed centre for diagnosis and treatment of bone, joint and muscle conditions.

Mr Price treats the full range of knee problems including:

  • Early and endstage osteoarthritis

  • Single and multiple ligament injury

  • Meniscal cartilage damage

He has expertise in all aspects of surgical management of knee problems including

  • Knee arthroscopy with mensical repair/resection

  • Total and unicompartmental knee replacement

  • Revision knee replacement

  • Patello femoral resurfacing

  • Anterior and posterior cruciate ligament repair

  • Augologous chondrocyte implantation

All appointments should be made via Mr Price’s Practice Manager, Mrs Chris Prior, whose contact details can be found below.  Mr Price is available for private patient appointments as follows:

 

  • Tuesday afternoons at the Manor Hospital where his administrative offices are based;

  • At other times as required by patients’ needs.
