Mr Amir Salama deals with all conditions of the upper limbs and sports injuries including knee ligament reconstruction surgery and meniscal cartilage repair surgery. He also specialises in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery of the shoulder, elbow and wrist for conditions such as frozen shoulder, tendonitis, rotator cuff tear, tennis elbow and arthritis.
Mr Amir Salama qualified from Alexandria Medical School in Egypt and undertook his postgraduate training in the UK. He worked in the Birmingham area and then took a Fellowship in limb reconstruction surgery at the University of Sheffield followed by a Specialist Registrar post in Sheffield where he was trained to a very high standard and was involved in many publications throughout the training. Mr Salama is a consultant at Heart of England NHS Trust (Good Hope Hospital and Solihull Hospital).
A highly qualified and experienced knee and shoulder surgeon
Mr Salama had Fellowship training in upper limb surgery at the Sheffield Shoulder and Elbow Unit in preparation for his consultant post and has a wide experience in upper limb joint replacements and arthroscopic surgery. Following that, as part of his sports injury interest, he took Fellowship training in knee surgery and ligament reconstructions and performs arthroscopic and joint replacement surgery. He is also interested in wrist surgery and performs most of his operations as a day case procedure in a minimally invasive or keyhole fashion.
Mr Salama wrote two chapters in the Oxford Textbook of Orthopaedics and was involved in several national and international presentations and Publications.
Mr Salama was selected as one of two European Fellows to take a mini Fellowship in Japan where he learnt many surgical techniques that could be beneficial to patients in Britain.
Mr Salama is a member of the British Association for Surgery of the Knee (BASK) and the British Elbow and Shoulder Society (BESS).

Mr Salama is fully trained and accredited in all aspects of Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery, but his specialist clinical interests lie in minimally invasive arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery to treat injuries of the knee, shoulder, elbow and wrist.
