Miss Shafik is an experienced consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in Harley Street. Miss Shafik has extensive experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In addition to her basic medical degree( MBBCh), she also holds a Masters degree on Obstetrics and Gynaecology (MSc) and a fellowship to the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRCOG). She has advanced/tertiary referral centre training in minimal invasive surgery, vaginal reconstruction surgery, urogynaecology, colposcopy and subfertility. She has vast experience in normal and abnormal pregnancy, birth and high risk obstetrics.

She was appointed as a full time consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at University Hospital Lewisham, London, from June 2002 till August 2008. She now practices in the private sector only.

Miss Shafik also offers other procedures to address medical concerns that you may have. These treatments include labial trimming and vaginal reconstruction.

Labial trimming

This surgery reduces and/or reshapes the labia minora. Women with large labia may experience pain during sexual intercourse or sports activities, and may also experience discomfort when wearing close-fitting clothing or simply during everyday activities. These issues can be resolved with labial trimming surgery.

Vaginal reconstruction

Vaginal reconstructive surgery may include vaginal tightening - this can be used to treat vaginal prolapse, which causes undesirable symptoms that can interfere with everyday life. Symptoms of vaginal prolapse include painful intercourse, recurrent urinary tract infections, and difficulty emptying bowels or bladder.

Other medical reasons for vaginal reconstruction include tissue stretching, birth trauma and improper surgical healing.
