Mr Sanjay Agrawal MBBS, MS, FRCSEd, FRCSGlasg, FRCS (Gen. Surg) works as a Consultant in Bariatric (Obesity), Laparoscopic (Key-hole) and Gastrointestinal (GI) surgery at Homerton University Hospital in London.
Mr Agrawal specialises in laparoscopic gastric band, laparoscopic gastric bypass and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy for obesity, laparoscopic hernia (groin & incisional) repairs, laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallstones, laparoscopic antireflux surgery for gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD) and advanced laparoscopic surgery.

Mr Agrawal has had extensive training in laparoscopic and general surgery both in the UK and in India and has undertaken more than 2000 surgical procedures to date. In addition, Mr Agrawal has experience of over 350 laparoscopic bariatric procedures (including more than 200 laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypasses).
Mr Agrawal has the honour of being the first post-CCT Fellow in Bariatric and Upper GI Surgery for 12-months in the country. This was awarded under the National Surgical Fellowship Scheme through the Royal College of Surgeons of England in partnership with the Surgical Specialist Associations at Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton. This centre is one of the busiest in the country as well as being an ASMBS (American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery), rated International Centre of Excellence for bariatric surgery.
He has also completed a 3 month fellowship in bariatric surgery with Dr Bruno Dillemans at St. Jan Hospital in Bruges, Belgium, awarded by The Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT), UK. This centre is one of the busiest in the world -it carries out more than 900 bariatric procedures annually.
Mr Agrawal was a Visiting Fellow on the Ethicon short-term clinical visits programme awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Ethicon Foundation Fund in the Gastric Surgery Division at the National Cancer Center and Cancer Institute Hospital, Tokyo, Japan.

Mr Agrawal trains other surgeons in the field of bariatric and laparoscopic surgery and has made numerous presentations at national and international meetings as well as publications in peer reviewed journals.

Mr Agrawal's main areas of research interest are in bariatric surgery – in particular, in investigating outcomes and complications of bariatric surgery from a clinical perspective.
