Specialist in gastroenterology including therapeutic endoscopy and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatolography (ERCP).
Dr John Silcock MB BS, MRCP is a Consultant Gastroenterologist for The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, and also runs a busy private practice at the Spire Washington Hospital with in excess of one thousand new patient referrals per annum and an ever expanding cohort of follow up and review patients. He receives referrals from general practitioners in the Cleveland, North Yorkshire, County Durham and Sunderland areas. Dr Silcock is a member of the General Medical Council (GMC number 3120189) and is also on the specialist register.
Dr Silcock graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1986 and obtained his MRCP in 1989. He was appointed Consultant Gastroenterologist initially at Sunderland District General Hospital in 1996 and, since 1997, at South Cleveland Hospital, Middlesbrough.
Dr Silcock has extensive experience in endoscopy (gastroscopy, colonoscopy and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography) a as both diagnostic and therapeutic tools. He has an interest in training endoscopy skills having attended the "Training the Trainers" course at the Royal College of Surgeons in London and is part of the faculty for the recently established Northern Region colonoscopy training courses based at The James Cook University Hospital.
Dr Silcock’s special clinical interest is in upper GI cancer. Dr Silcock is a member of the upper GI multi disciplinary team at The James Cook University Hospital which takes referrals from a population base of nearly one million.
