An experienced foot and ankle surgeon in Manchester

Professor Jari undertook his medical and surgical training in Manchester and London, going on to spend a year at a prestigious Sports Medicine Clinic in the USA as part of his Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Indiana.  Specialising in lower limb conditions, he offers expert diagnosis and treatment of conditions affecting the foot and ankle using the latest technology and techniques including MR arthrography, arthroscopy, cartilage transplantation for the ankle joint and accelerated rehabilitation.

Foot and ankle conditions treated by Professor Jari

Professor Jari offers surgical and non-surgical treatment for the full range of conditions affecting the foot and ankle, including:

  • Ankle ligament damage
  • Ankle, midfoot and forefoot sprains
  • Subtalar joint injury
  • Tendonosis
  • Tendinitis
  • Ruptured Achilles tendon
  • Arthritis
  • Damaged metatarsals
  • Bunions
  • Claw toe and hammer toe

Ankle arthroscopy in Manchester

Ankle twists and sprains are the most common injuries to the ankle.  In many cases the swelling and pain will reduce, and normal function will be restored, with conservative treatment.  However, in cases where problems such as clicking in the joint or frequently giving way persist, Professor Jari is able to offer a range of investigations, including ankle arthroscopy.  Using a tiny fibre-optic camera introduced into the ankle joint through a small incision, he is able to view the internal structures such as cartilage and ligaments and make a definitive diagnosis.  Some therapeutic procedures can also be undertaken arthroscopically, including removal of loose pieces of cartilage or bone spurs and repairs to torn cartilage, using special instruments inserted through further small incisions.
