Mr Murty qualified as a Doctor in 1982 from the University of Glasgow Medical School having received the ENT Undergraduate Award. He completed his general surgical training before specialising in ENT at the Birmingham and Midlands Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital, The Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh and the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle Upon Tyne where he completed his doctoral thesis on voice disorders.
In 1990 Mr Murty was appointed Senior Registrar to the South Trent Ear, Nose and Throat rotation and during his time there was awarded the Otolaryngology Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Mr Murty was awarded prestigious prizes from the Midlands Institute of Otology, The Association of Head and Neck Surgeons of Great Britain and the Storz Research Prize which enabled him to travel abroad to Holland and the USA to gain further valuable experience and expertise in the latest techniques in the treatment of ENT disease.
In 1994 Mr Murty was appointed Consultant ENT Surgeon to the Leicester Royal Infirmary and Honorary Lecturer to the University of Leicester Medical School and visiting Lecturer to the De Montfort University. Mr Murty provides a thriving general ENT practice with specialist children’s clinics, a specialist voice clinic and a specialist rhinology clinic for the treatment of complex nasal and sinus disease.

Mr Murty has had a variety of senior ENT posts including Secretary to the Otorhinolaryngological Research Society of Great Britain, Council Member of the Royal Society of Medicine Otology Section and Council Member of the Midlands Institute of Otology.
Mr Murty has published and lectured extensively both nationally and internationally and his contribution to the specialty was recognised in 2007 by the American Academy of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgeons Award of their prestigious Certificate of Honour. Mr Murty is one of only a handful of ENT Surgeons to hold Fellowships in both the UK and the USA. In 2010 Mr Murty was one of the few ENT Consultants to appear in The Guide to Private Health Consultants published by the television Doctor Chris Steele.
