Dr McGregor studied medicine at Cambridge University and was awarded a first class honours degree in 1982. She undertook clinical training at Guy’s Hospital Medical School and was awarded a distinction in medicine and pharmacology in 1986.

She trained in general medicine at the Brompton, Hammersmith and St Thomas’ Hospitals and then specialised in dermatology at Guy’s Hospital and St Johns Institute of Dermatology, London. She was also made a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2000.

Dr McGregor has published over a hundred articles in peer reviewed journals on diverse subjects including melanoma, post transplant skin cancer and genetic aspects of malignant and immunological skin diseases. Her MD thesis (awarded by Cambridge University in 2000) was on skin cancer in renal allograft recipients.
