Transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEMS) in Hampshire
Mr Khan is skilled in transanal endoscopic microsurgery (TEMS), a
new minimally invasive technique to remove difficult non-cancerous
growths (polyps) from the rectum that cannot be removed by colonoscopy.
Performed by inserting a special microscope and instruments directly
into the rectum via the anus, the surgery does not involve any incisions
to the anus or abdomen, and avoids the need for a major operation
involving the complete removal of the rectum, or incomplete treatment by means of burning or scraping away. The procedure may also be used for
small, early rectal tumours.

The THD procedure: a minimally invasive treatment for piles in Portsmouth
Transanal haemorrhoidal dearterialisation (THD) is an
incision-less method for reducing the blood flow to haemorrhoids,
causing them to shrink. Also known haemorrhoidal artery ligation (HALO)
or Doppler-guided ligation, and approved by the National Institute for
Clinical Excellence (NICE), the THD procedure is virtually painless and
is associated with a high level of satisfaction in treated patients.
Mr Khan provides expert treatment and management of haemorrhoids, including the THD procedure at the Portsmouth Haemorrhoid Centre.
