Professor Mokbel graduated from the University of London in 1990 and undertook his basic and higher surgical training at a number of London's prestigious teaching hospitals, including specialist breast surgery training at St Mary's, St Bartholomew's and The Royal London Hospitals. He was appointed as a Consultant Breast and Endocrine Surgeon to St George's Hospital, London in 2000. His extensive involvement in research into the molecular biology and clinical management of breast cancer was recognised with a Professorship at the Brunel Institute of Cancer Genetics and Pharmacogenomics in 2002 and an appointment as Reader in Breast Surgery at St George's University of London in 2005.
