Thomas Fischer: Consultant Psychiatrist and Hypnotherapist, Sunderland

Consultant Psychiatrist with a special interest in the treatment of stress related problems, especially stress at work.

 

Dr Thomas Fischer is a Consultant on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council. He also has a German qualification as a Specialist Doctor. He completed his dissertation in 2002. He is also a qualified Hypnotherapist and has a special interest in using this experimental technique for stress related problems especially stress at work. 

 

Dr Fischer now lives in the North East of England and works full time for the NHS. He is also a registered Consultant with a number of private health insurance providers.

  

Stress Assist

Dr Fischer is one of the GMC-certified specialist doctors registered with Stress Assist, an agency offering easy access to help out of normal office hours.

 

Doctors registered with Stress Assist have special experience in helping with stress related disorders including work related stress, and can diagnose an illness, recommend periods of rest and prescribe treatment including medication.

 

Dr Fischer and his colleagues can improve your emotional health and offer a variety of other options such as relaxation and emotional wellness sessions or recommend changes to your work environment in order to achieve a reduction of work related stress factors.

  • Specialist doctors use Health and Safety Executive guidelines to continuously assess your stress levels at work
  • Doctors can inform your employer about breaches of work stress related HSE guidelines
  • Doctors can create a continuous record of your stress at work and how this has affected your emotional wellness via confidential online feedback tools
  • Doctors evaluate and monitor high stress levels at work caused by issues such as:

    • unreasonable demands
    • harassment
    • bullying
    • unachievable deadlines
    • lack of resources
    • lack of support
    • insufficient breaks
    • long hours and other
    • employment related reasons
  • If you are depressed, anxious or suffer with a mental illness caused by high stress levels at work specialist doctors can make a diagnosis, identify the cause at your place of work and offer specialist help

  • If you are being made ill by your job, specialist doctors can recommend specific changes to your work environment such as enhanced support, less pressure and better communication

  • Doctors can also provide you with medical reports outlining your problems at work, how this has affected your emotional health and how your employer has demonstrated compliance with work stress related health and safety regulations

Services and fees

Both schemes have a fixed weekly fee. You can pay by monthly direct debit.

 

Once you are a member of a scheme you are entitled to the following free of charge: 

  • One First Clinic Consultation with a specialist doctor lasting for one hour

  • Two Follow-up Consultations (Clinic or Internet-Video) with a specialist doctor lasting 30 minutes each

  • Free use of an online stress diary with a regular evaluation of your entries by specialist doctors

  • Free use of online evaluation tools with regular evaluation of your scores

  • Free access to an ultra-confidential and secure independent database

  • Free independent medical reports/specialist opinions from specialist doctors once you've had at least one consultation

Webcam interview

Internet video consultations

Doctors registered with Stress Assist can offer video consultations via webcam. These are an extremely convenient way of getting help for stress related problems in your home environment.

 

You can relax, have a cup of tea or even ask your loved ones questions during the consultation. It is extremely easy to set up as long as you have a computer, an Internet address and a webcam. Stress Assist will take care of everything: they will pay the fee for the Web conferencing service and there will be no hidden costs for you.

  

Contact information and patient referral

If you have a GP in the UK, you can self-refer to Stress Assist, who will, with your permission, share information with your GP. If you are privately insured please check if your chosen Consultant is registered with your insurance company.
