Mr Andrew James Cossey FRCS, MBBS is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Queen Alexandra Hospital and Spire Portsmouth Hospital and also runs a private practice in Havant, Hampshire. Mr Cossey's medical school training was at Kings College, London, and after qualifying, he spent the first two years of his training in London gaining experience in accident and emergency and also demonstrating anatomy at St George’s Medical School. He then went to Wessex having been accepted on a Basic Surgical Training programme. Having completed this, he was awarded a registrar rotation in trauma and orthopaedics in the same region. He gained valuable experience working for many experienced surgeons and was awarded his FRCS (Tr & Orth), being placed on the GMC specialist register of orthopaedic surgeons in 2005. In 2004, Mr Cossey spent a year in Adelaide, South Australia working at SportsMed SA, a hospital specialising in sports injuries and joint replacement surgery. He gained vast amounts of experience in all aspects of knee surgery including ligament reconstruction, arthroscopy, meniscal repair, chondral ‘resurfacing’, unicompartmental knee replacement and total knee replacement surgery. He was actively involved in numerous research projects, culminating in several publications and many presentations.
