Gavin Robertson qualified in 1984 from Leicester Medical School. His extensive surgical training included 8 years as a lecturer in Leicester, where he began training in laparoscopic surgery when it began in the UK in 1993. He spent additional periods on specialist units in Birmingham, Belgium and Australia. As a consultant surgeon he now specialises in laparoscopic surgery (particularly gallbladder and hernia surgery) and major cancer resections of the liver, pancreas and bile duct systems (HPB). He also undertakes complex endoscopic procedures including ERCPs (bile duct interventions).
