Dr Colin F Walshaw MB, ChB, MSc, MRCP, FRCR is a general radiologist with specialist interest in musculoskeletal cross sectional imaging and head and neck radiology.
In 1996 Dr Walshaw was appointed to Blackpool Victoria Hospital as a Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in cross sectional imaging. He was lead clinician for the implementation of PACS and speech recognition integration as well as lead Radiologist for audit.
Dr Walshaw graduated from Manchester University in 1984 and obtained higher degrees in Medicine and in Computer/Image processing. He lectures regularly on the University of Cumbria Magnetic Resonance MSc course.
In 2000, together with Dr Roger W Bury, he established Direct Medical Imaging and the Fylde Medical Clinic to provide a non hospital imaging service to both the NHS and private sectors. This facility provides direct access for General Practitioners and Physiotherapists who refer patients with musculoskeletal complaints. The service of this clinic has recently been extended to include an open whole body MRI scanner providing a non claustrophobic environment for patients. Referral may be made by Consultants, General Practitioners and members of the Allied Medical Profession.
